The white water barge is a boat with an artificial white water river on which all kinds of white water activities can be practised. Water from the channel, port or river will be pumped directly into the white water barge.

The white water barge could navigate on all the European channels for huge models. It could also move along the coast or across the Channel but only by calm weather. As the white water barge won't be mechanized, it will be manoeuvred on the channels and rivers with the help of a tug. Whereas it will be towed during its displacements along the coast or its crossing form Calais to Dover.

Thanks to the displacement possibilities of the white water barge it can be berthed in numerous French and European Cities. With the white water barge a private or a government organization could organize an event and offer white water activities without having to face the problems generally encountered during white water projects such as the availibility of land and water.

The white water barge offers various white water activities. These activities will meet with the expectations of promoters and/or the companies developing outdoor activies like rafting.

Criteria for the organisation of an event :

Moving of the barge: the displacements of the white water barge, that is to say its departure or berth will be spectacular.
Rafting: from 60 till 90 participants an hour.
Demonstrations: various kayak freestyle, border kayak and inflatable canoe.
High level competitions: slalom, sprinting or freestyle.
participation, social integration and education: rafting for all on the course, participation of disabled sportsmen and the explanation of safety instructions in a natural environment.

COMPATIBILITY WITH SUSTAINED DEVELOPMENT :
The use of the white water barge will strongly increase the value of river transport. Moreover, the message of the project is to make it possible for a very large public to discover sportive activities that were until now only practised by a privileged few. The same message based on the social expansion of users is used to promote white water courses in an urban area.

Regarding white water courses the enthusiasm of the public is real and these courses are very popular, especially when one of the aims is social integration.
