The construction of the Cardiff white water stadium was decided by the Assembly of the Welsh Government in 2008.

A white water course that optimizes the use of the stretch of land between land and sea.

The white water course located in Cardiff Bay is built both on land and on the Ely River. A crane of 180 tons was specially built on site to achieve the establishment of an important horizontal planking which separates the arrival basin and the Ely River.
The installation will be used for some of the events associated with the London Olympic Games in 2012. At least 50,000 people are expected each year.

• Construction costs : 13.3 million £, out of which approximately 8.4 million £ is for the white water river and its pumping station.
