« Reconstructing in a few months an internationally reputed course... »

:: White water course > Bourg Saint Maurice

On the course Bourg Saint Maurice, which is very well known by white water specialists, various international competitions and specially the world championship of 1969 and 1987 were organized until 1996..

The best high level course in the world was devastated by a flood in 1996 which resulted in a field of dispersed rocks. The stakes were important: the town of Bourg Saint Maurice ask us to rebuild a white water course as difficult and beautiful as the former within a few months.

An importante slope and a insured flow thanks to the hydro-electric structure of Tignes, make that Bourg Saint Maurice is an ideal place for a great white water course. That's why the canoe kayak is one of the principal activities of the town. In very short terms, the Isère River has been rebuilt to match the hydraulic characteristics corresponding to the criteria of the International Canoe Federation for the organisation of high level competitions (in particular the 2002 World Championships).

The new course has been determined by international athletes as one of the most difficult and beautiful white water courses of the world.
