Project owner Arcs Domaines Skiables

Type of project Construction of a hydropower plant on the snowmaking network of Les Arcs (73)

Les Arcs Domaine skiable (ADS) wished to install a hydroelectric power plant on its snowmaking network at Arc 2000, harnessing the waters of the Pissevieille torrent.
The project began in 2020 with opportunity, feasibility and preliminary design studies carried out by Hydrostadium. ADS, through its project management firm ABEST, subsequently launched a works contract in 2024 for the civil engineering and earthworks package. The process equipment package was signed directly with Hydrostadium to ensure the turbine procurement schedule was met.

The development comprises:

  • A lateral intake on the Pissevieille torrent, equipped with a trash rack, 8 mm fine screen, mechanical rake and manual butterfly headgate
  • A DN350 and 250 cast-iron pipeline over 3,300 m
  • A spherical inlet valve
  • A horizontal 2-jet 430 kW PELTON turbine, HPP, with electric actuator / pneumatic deflector
  • A MARELLI generator
  • Location 73700 Bourg-Saint-Maurice
  • Project / construction cost 1,6M €
  • Years of completion 2024 - 2025
