Hydrostadium develops hydraulic facilities dedicated to specific uses, where flow control and safety are central. These projects draw on our expertise in whitewater, hydraulic modelling and the design of bespoke structures.
Two areas structure this activity: flood training platforms for emergency services, and hydraulic installations for leisure parks and tourist sites.
Urban floods are becoming increasingly frequent and are characterised by high flow velocities, a congested environment and numerous hazards (street furniture, obstacles and the absence of a bank). Conventional artificial rivers cannot faithfully reproduce these conditions.
Hydrostadium designs modular training platforms specifically dedicated to training firefighters and rescue workers in flooded urban environments. These facilities enable realistic situations to be practised safely: wall entrapment, hydraulic jumps, strainers, siphons and the absence of a bank.
Examples include the whitewater stadium in Épinal, the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy in Hong Kong, and a facility in Millau for torrent rescue exercises. These systems can incorporate our Omniflots® mobile obstacles.
HYDROSTADIUM designs and builds hydraulic installations for leisure parks and tourist sites, from the study phase through to commissioning. Each project is developed according to the site’s objectives: visitor experience, visitor capacity, landscape integration and operating constraints.
Our expertise in whitewater enables us to create dynamic, controlled courses adapted to different audiences, with particular attention paid to safety, reliability and energy performance.
HYDROSTADIUM has supported several stakeholders in the sector, including Center Parcs and Futuroscope. For the Bermudes attraction at Futuroscope, our teams carried out the hydraulic design, structural design and optimisation of flow conditions.
These specialised sites illustrate HYDROSTADIUM’s ability to adapt its hydraulic expertise to constrained environments and demanding uses, whether for operational training or hosting the public.
