Installation of a turbine on the drinking water supply network in Peyrus (26)

Project owner Commune de Peyrus

Type of project Installation of a turbine on the drinking water supply network in Peyrus (26)

The Peyrus town council in the Drôme is located on the foothills of the Vercors. Its drinking water supply network has all the characteristics

required for an interesting hydroelectric scheme:

  • A water intake at an altitude of 745 m
  • A recent DN200 pipeline
  • A break-pressure tank designed to dissipate the energy at 602 m.

To harness the energy lost at the break-pressure tank, the town council turned to Hydrostadium to implement a hydroelectric scheme. In terms of work visible from outside, only a wooden chalet was built to house the turbine, installed directly on the existing break-pressure tank.

Once operational, the scheme will produce the equivalent of the average electricity consumption of 130 residents (i.e. one quarter of the town of Peyrus).

  • Location 26120 Peyrus
  • Project / construction cost 290k €
  • Years of completion 2023
