A renovated whitewater stadium in Cesson-Sévigné!

First filling of the renovated Cesson-Sévigné whitewater stadium successfully completed!

The filling took place on 11 January in the presence of elected representatives from Cesson-Sévigné, Jean Zoungrana, President of the Fédération Française de Canoë Kayak et Sports de Pagaie (FFCK), and athletes from the French national training centre, who were there to test the new rapids ahead of their official opening. During the event, the FFCK also announced that the French Championships would be held on the Cesson-Sévigné course in autumn 2023!

An award-winning SEV renovation project

The project involved the complete renovation of the SEV, including the creation of a 120 m-long “international-level” channel, the complete replacement of the pumping station to increase capacity from 6 to 12 m3/s, the installation of a conveyor belt, and the refurbishment of all landscaping to preserve the SEV’s role as an urban park.

An investment of €4.5 million and an award-winning project: last December, it received the “Terre de Jeux 2024” label and won the jury’s “Coup de cœur” award, which recognised local authorities involved in a wide range of initiatives and demonstrating a particularly strong commitment.
