The Neuville-sur-Ain scheme is located in the eponymous municipality in the Ain department (01). It is located downstream of the EDF Allement dam and upstream of the privately owned Oussiat dam.
The scheme comprises:

A 287-metre-long spillway dam;
An approximately 85-metre-long headrace canal (average width: 14 metres and normal water depth: approximately 3.5 metres), which diverts water along the right bank to supply the two power stations;
A discharge structure comprising three flat sluice gates;
The upstream power station comprises three “FLYGT” KAPLAN units;
The downstream power station, renovated in 2012, comprises two units: “G1”, a FRANCIS unit, and “GK”, a KAPLAN unit.

The length of the bypassed reach between the dam and the outlet of the downstream power station’s tailrace canal is approximately 350 metres. Hydro Neuville-sur-Ain, the owner of the scheme, wishes to turbine the downstream-migration flow and part of the reserved flow, thereby increasing its contribution to renewable energy.

Hydro-electric power plant
