Hydroelectric power plants: comprehensive expertise and support

Hydroelectric power plants combine a water intake, a conveyance structure and a powerhouse. Depending on the topography, they may be concentrated at a single location for low-head developments equipped with Kaplan, VLH or Dive turbines, suited to high flow rates and low heads. Other installations extend over long distances to accommodate significant heads, with a water intake connected to the powerhouse by a penstock or hydraulic tunnel. Pelton turbines can then operate with low flow rates under high heads. Between these extremes, a wide range of turbines (Francis, Banki…) meets the requirements of each configuration.

Comprehensive expertise across all disciplines

Comprehensive expertise across all disciplines

Hydrostadium works across all technical disciplines:

  • Civil engineering: dams, intakes, powerhouses, penstocks, desanders
  • Electromechanical engineering: generating units, gates
  • Control and instrumentation: supervision and control of facilities

This integrated approach enables our clients to benefit from a single point of contact to manage the entire project, from design through to implementation.

From project to commissioning

From project to commissioning

We support both renovation and new-build projects:

  • Renovation, optimisation and maintenance: complete modernisation of existing power plants (e.g. the Chavaroche power plant for EDF).
  • New-build projects: design and construction of complete power plants (e.g. Ambres Fontenau in Lavaur for ESL, 2.5 MW).

Our clients (territorial utilities, local authorities, independent producers and EDF) trust us to deliver reliable, tailor-made hydropower projects, thanks to our technical expertise and comprehensive support.
