Storm Alex severely affected the Alpes-Maritimes on 1 October 2020. The damage assessment was very serious:

  • 13,000 people affected,
  • 18 dead or missing
  • Destroyed roads, flood protection structures, infrastructure and superstructures
  • EDF facilities submerged or severely damaged

Reconstruction cost:

  • Close to €500 million for the département/region
  • Approximately €50 million for EDF (all project management arrangements combined/internal resources), excluding
  • production losses

An objective of restoring the facilities to operation as soon as possible, while reconciling safety, environmental, security and financial considerations
